Appeal after dog attack leaves woman, 81, hurt in Hayle

A footpath by a play park, a dog on a lead, and an 81-year-old out walking her own dog. Police are now asking anyone who saw what happened next to come forward.

Officers are investigating after an elderly woman was left with a serious leg injury when she was bitten by a dog in Hayle, and are appealing for information.

What happened

The incident took place on Sunday 24 April at 3.20pm. The woman was walking her own dog along a footpath by the play park near Hayle Recreational Ground when she was bitten.

The 81-year-old, who is local, was taken to hospital and has since been released. She is still receiving medical treatment for her wound.

The dog and its owner

The dog involved was reported to have been on a lead at the time. It has been described as a Labrador type of breed, light beige or golden in colour.

The owner is described as a woman in her late 30s to early 40s, of slim build, with short hair.
