Hayle roads close today for Rick Rescorla memorial event

Anyone planning to drive into Hayle around Penpol this afternoon will want a different route. Hayle Town Council is closing several streets from just before 1pm for today’s Rick Rescorla memorial event, and the closures run into mid-afternoon.

Which roads are closing, and when

The council’s official closure notice covers Penpol Road, Chapel Terrace and Penpol Terrace, shut between 12.45pm and 2.45pm today, Friday 11 September. Foundry Square, St George’s Road and Penpol Avenue are listed as impacted too, though not fully closed to traffic.

Hayle Town Council applied for the order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to allow the Rick Rescorla memorial event to run safely along the route.

Anyone checking the live road closure map will see a different window listed there, with Penpol Terrace shown as closed from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Either way, drivers needing to get through that stretch of Hayle in the early afternoon should expect the road to be shut, and allow extra time.

Foundry Square Car Park shuts separately, from 9.30am

Foundry Square Car Park closes on its own timetable today, from 9.30am until 2pm, well ahead of the road closures themselves. Anyone planning to park in the town centre this morning will need to find an alternative for those hours.
