Walker Spots Unusual Blue Daffodils Along St George’s Walk in Hayle

A walker in Hayle says he spotted something unusual while out enjoying the sunshine along St. George’s Walk, and now he’s wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing.

Andy Wilkinson got in touch with CornishStuff after taking a photo during a recent stroll along the popular route beside the estuary. At first glance everything looked normal, with a line of bright yellow daffodils growing beside the path.

But when Andy looked at the photo again a few days later, something caught his eye.

Among the usual yellow flowers were what appeared to be a few daffodils with blue petals.

Andy said he didn’t notice anything unusual at the time he took the picture.

He explained in his message to CornishStuff:

“On a recent walk on Hayle’s St. George’s Walk I took the attached picture.
I didn’t notice it until a few days later that a few daffodil flowers looked strange. They were blue.”

Andy added that even at home the discovery raised a few eyebrows.

“My fiancée thinks I’m crazy and that these weren’t real. I swear I have not tampered with the picture other than cropping in on the flowers.”

The photos show the row of daffodils along the waterside path, with what appear to be a couple of blue-coloured blooms standing out among the yellow ones.

Whether it’s an unusual variety, a trick of the light, or something else entirely, Andy is now curious to know if anyone else walking along St. George’s Walk has spotted them.
