Free Day Passes for Carers Across Cornwall This April

Better leisure centres across Cornwall are supporting local carers with free access and discounted fitness throughout April as part of a national campaign.

Free Access on 15th April

On Wednesday 15th April, eligible carers can claim a free day pass to use at their chosen Better leisure centre. The pass can be used for gym sessions, swimming or fitness classes.

The offer forms part of the Carers Active Together campaign, which highlights the benefits of staying active while caring for others.

Welcome Sessions in Bodmin

Bodmin Leisure Centre will host two welcome sessions on the day, running from 10am to midday and again from 1pm to 3pm.

These sessions are open to carers who want to meet others in similar situations. Visitors can also take part in taster sessions, enjoy a tour of the centre, and get help with booking activities or signing up for memberships.

There is no need to register in advance.

Discounts Available Throughout April

To mark the 61st anniversary of Carers UK, members of the charity and those receiving Carer’s Allowance can access discounted fitness facilities at Better centres across Cornwall for the whole of April.

GLL, the not-for-profit social enterprise that operates Better leisure centres on behalf of Cornwall Council, runs facilities in Bude, Saltash, Liskeard, St Austell, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro, Helston and St Ives.

Supporting Carers Through Activity

Karen Edmond, GLL Community Sport Manager, said:
“Research shows that 67% of unpaid carers feel more connected to others when they stay active. Physical activity is great for the body and equally great for the mind.

“Our welcome sessions at Bodmin will be very relaxed and there’s no need to register – just come along.”
