Pharmacist Yung Strawbridge takes on south west ambassador role

A week ago she was on a national stage talking about her Vietnamese heritage. Now Yung Strawbridge has a new title to go with it.

On World Pharmacists Day (today, 25 September), [TRUST NAME] announced that Yung, its lead education and patient group directions (PGDs) pharmacist, has been appointed a Royal College of Pharmacy (RCP) ambassador for the south west.

She is one of two pharmacist ambassadors representing the region. The other is Abigail Wilson, Director of Pharmacy at WithYou.

What the ambassador role involves

Yung will work closely with the RCP’s Professional Engagement Team. That means supporting regional events, strengthening professional engagement and building collaboration across the wider healthcare community throughout the south west.

“I am excited and privileged to have been appointed as a Royal College of Pharmacy Ambassador for the south west,” Yung said.

“In this role, I will work closely with the Royal College of Pharmacy’s Professional Engagement Team, supporting regional events and engaging with colleagues across the wider healthcare community. I look forward to meeting and working with pharmacy professionals and healthcare colleagues from across the region.”

A keynote at Evolving Threads

The appointment caps a busy few weeks. Last week Yung was invited to give a keynote at the national Royal College of Pharmacy Evolving Threads event, held as part of East and South East Asian (ESEA) Heritage Month.

The event brings professionals together to share their experiences, insights and personal journeys. Yung used her address to reflect on her career, her Vietnamese heritage and the work going on within the Trust.

“It was an honour to be invited as a keynote speaker and to share my story,” she said. “As a proud Vietnamese pharmacist, the opportunity to contribute to this celebration of heritage, identity, and belonging meant a great deal to me.”

Education, workforce and PGDs

Over her career Yung has built up expertise in education, workforce development, medicines management and PGDs, and has contributed to both pharmacy practice and professional development across the organisation.
