A reception in the Corn Exchange
Helston Town Council is holding a small reception in the Corn Exchange at The Guildhall, Helston, from 10.30am on Thursday 3 September. The event marks Merchant Navy Day, a day set aside to remember the seafarers of the Merchant Navy, past and present, and to say thank you for everything they have given.
The Red Ensign goes up at 11am
Following the reception, the Red Ensign, the flag flown by British merchant and civilian vessels, will be raised at 11am. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not they have a personal connection to life at sea.
Let the council know beforehand
Anyone with dietary or accessibility requirements is asked to get in touch with the council in advance, on 01326 572063 or by emailing [email protected], so they can be looked after on the day.
