Most people who finish the London Marathon spend the next day struggling to walk down the stairs. Tegan Pryce decided to run another one. And then another. And another.

The Helston local, known as Tee, is in the middle of an endurance challenge that has seen her run five marathons in five consecutive days, all to raise money for a Cornwall-based mental health charity.

Five marathons, one week, one cause

Tegan started her run at the London Marathon on 26th April and has been covering a full 26.2 miles every day since, making her way back down to Cornwall on foot. By the time she finishes, she will have run more than 130 miles in less than a week.

She has called the challenge “5 in 5”, and the funds raised are going to Georgia’s Voice, a Cornwall charity that supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people across the county.

A personal reason for running

For Tee, this is more than a fundraising effort. She has been open about the role exercise has played in her own life and how it has helped her through tough periods.

“I truly believe exercise has saved my life in so many ways,” she said. “So I wanted to use it to raise money for such an incredible charity.”

Running one marathon takes serious physical and mental preparation. Doing five back to back, on consecutive days, with each day’s miles adding to the toll on the legs from the day before, is a different kind of test. Tee has been posting updates on her social media as she goes, sharing both the good moments and the harder ones.

Support building across the county

Word of the challenge has spread, and people across Cornwall have been following her progress and cheering her on as she gets closer to home.

Georgia’s Voice provides ongoing support, resources and safe spaces for young people in Cornwall who are struggling with their mental health. Fundraising like Tee’s helps the charity continue that work and reach more of the people who need it.
