Motorcyclist in his 70s critically hurt in Helston crash

A stretch of the B3304 on the edge of Helston became the scene of a serious collision at the weekend, and police now want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or was driving through with a camera running.

What we know

On Saturday 1 August at around 4.35pm, a motorcycle and two cars collided on the B3304 Porthleven Road. Emergency services went to the scene, and the motorcyclist, a local man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police have not released further detail about the two cars or the circumstances of the collision. The appeal is the force’s first public call for information since Saturday.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant dash-cam footage and has not yet spoken to police, to get in touch. You can call 101 or report online through the Devon & Cornwall Police website, quoting log 600 of 1 August.

Dash-cam clips from drivers who were on the Porthleven Road that afternoon can be significant, even a few seconds either side of the collision can help investigators piece together the sequence of events.
