Penzance Man, 36, Charged with Rape and Murder Near Helston
A man is due to appear before magistrates today charged with the rape and murder of a woman in her 80s in west Cornwall.
Edward Holden, 36, of Alexandra Place in Penzance, has been charged in connection with the woman’s death following an incident in the Ashton area, near Helston. The incident was reported to police on Friday 29th May.
Edward has been remanded to appear before Truro Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 1st June.
In a statement, police said: “We recognise that an incident such as this will cause worry amongst our communities. We would specifically request that any social media commentary is avoided, and we ask for your support as we further our investigations.”
