The Basement Announces Christmas Holiday Programme for Helston Youth
The Basement has revealed its Christmas holiday programme, offering a run of events for young people across South Kerrier as schools break up for the festive period.
Silent Disco to Start the Holidays
The celebrations begin on Friday 19th December with an End of Term Christmas Silent Disco held with Glitter Beatz. Three timed sessions will cater for different age groups.
• Pre teens and families from 4:00 to 5:30pm for all school age children and their families
• Years 7 to 9 from 6:00 to 7:30pm
• Years 10 to 13 from 8:00 to 9:30pm
Tickets cost £3 per person, which includes headphone hire. Multiple music channels will be available throughout the evening.
DJ Workshop Returns After Christmas
The Amplify DJ Drop In Workshop is scheduled for Saturday 27th December from 6:00 to 8:00pm. It offers young people the chance to learn mixing techniques and enjoy sets from student tutors in The Basement’s fully equipped venue.
Live Music to Welcome 2026
On Saturday 3rd January, local teen rock band M2 will headline the Not New Year’s Party. They will be joined by special guest Leia Martin. Tickets for this event are £5.
Subsidised Access for Young People
All events include subsidised prices, usually between £3 and £5. Free tickets are available for any young person who needs one, supported by fundraising from South Kerrier Alliance CIC.
Jonathan from The Basement said: “We believe every young person deserves access to quality youth provision, regardless of their financial circumstances. Our mission is to create a space where all young people feel welcome, valued, and able to participate fully.”
About The Basement
The Basement is South Kerrier’s youth space, located in Helston town centre. Designed by young people, it features a professional event space with pre rigged lighting and sound systems, along with a soon to be fully equipped recording studio. It sits within the Helston Gateway building, which also houses The Tide climbing and bouldering centre.
Activities at The Basement are created by the Youth Programming Board with South Kerrier Alliance CIC. The space offers regular clubs, creative workshops, one off events and touring performances. It is mainly designed for ages 13 to 17, with additional programmes for those aged 11 and over.
