Work starts on 40 new homes at Connor Downs near Hayle

A digger the size of a house, a spade planted upright in the mud, and eight people in hi-vis smiling into the fog. That is what the first day at Hedhas Tewynnow looks like, marking the start of 40 new homes going up on a quiet stretch of ground at Connor Downs, near Hayle.

A mix of homes for local people

Treveth has appointed Sureflow Building Services as the contractor to deliver the site, which will provide a mix of Affordable Rent, Open Market Rent, Shared Ownership and Open Market Sale homes. That spread of tenures is deliberate. It gives people different routes into a home, whether that is a rented property, a shared ownership step onto the ladder, or somewhere to buy or rent outright.

Local connection criteria will be used to prioritise local people wherever applicable, continuing Treveth’s focus on delivering homes for people who already live and work in Cornwall.

Built to Treveth’s standards, with the environment in mind

The 40 properties will be built to Treveth’s standards of quality and energy efficiency. Each home will incorporate air source heat pumps, cutting reliance on fossil fuels and supporting lower carbon living, and the wider site will include landscaping and biodiversity measures alongside the housing itself.

A well-established village in West Cornwall

Connor Downs sits in the heart of West Cornwall and already has a range of local amenities, including a convenience store and a village pub. Hedhas Tewynnow becomes the latest addition to Treveth’s growing residential portfolio, following the company’s recent milestone of delivering more than 500 new homes across Cornwall.
