Lands End Coastguard Team Helps Injured Walker on Nanjizal Coast Path
A day out on one of Cornwall’s most dramatic stretches of coast path took a worrying turn at the weekend, when a walker fell and quickly began to lose body heat while waiting for help to arrive.
The Lands End Coastguard Search & Rescue Team was tasked on Sunday 7th June to a person who had fallen on the coast path north-west of Nanjizal, near Carn Boel.
A Community First Responder who happened to be in the area was also tasked to assist. The two parties met at Greeb Farm before making their way along the coast path towards the casualty.
Once they reached the fallen walker, the team carried out a full assessment. By that point the casualty was getting much colder, which added a degree of urgency to the response. After the person was stabilised, they were helped back along the path to a waiting ambulance at the Lands End complex for further care.
The team then packed away their gear and returned to station shortly after.

The Coastguard team used the call-out to repeat a piece of advice worth remembering before any walk along the cliffs.
If you see someone in danger on the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
