It took a helicopter, a stretcher carry and three medical teams to get one injured person off the coast near Lands End on Wednesday afternoon.
Lands End Coastguard Search and Rescue Team was tasked by Falmouth Coastguard to Pordennack Point, near the Lands End Hotel, after a report of a person with a severe ankle injury. Cornwall Air Ambulance had also been tasked and was already on scene by the time the coastguard team arrived.

A stretcher carry in from Greebe Farm
The team met South Western Ambulance paramedics and a First Responder at Greebe Farm, then went in on foot with a stretcher and a casualty care kit. On arrival they helped the medical teams secure the casualty for transport back to the helicopter.
Two landing sites, one call for the pilot
While the casualty was being moved to the Air Ambulance, other members of the team headed back to the hotel car park and set up two Helicopter Landing Sites. They waited for the aircraft to get airborne before the pilot decided which one to use.
The pilot chose the grassy area at the bottom of the car park. The casualty was transferred there to a waiting ambulance for onward travel to hospital.
After a short debrief with the aircrew, the helicopter departed and the team returned to station.
If you see someone in danger on the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
