Charlie Noordewier’s breakout year comes home to Falmouth this Autumn

There’s a particular kind of pride in watching someone from your own patch go from local gigs to being name-checked by Daniel Caesar. For fans who’ve followed Charlie Noordewier since his early Cornwall shows, that’s exactly the year it’s been. Now the Cornwall-based folk singer-songwriter is bringing it all back to Falmouth, headlining The Cornish Bank on Thursday 26 November as part of an extensive UK tour.

A single video, millions of views

Noordewier’s 2026 took off in a way few artists get to experience. A spontaneous live video of his single “Joy & Despair”, filmed while he was out on tour, went on to rack up a reported 4.7 million views across social media. The clip caught the attention of artists well beyond Cornwall, drawing cosigns from Daniel Caesar, Maverick Sabre and Joe Jonas.

The single sits on his latest EP, Joy & Despair, released last June and led by the track “When The Dawn Breaks”, a song built around his voice and delicate guitar work at their most stripped-back. The EP has picked up further support from Clash, Radio 1 and BBC Introducing West, who named him one of their Ones To Watch for 2026.

From festivals to a beach clean

It’s been a busy year on home turf as well as further afield. Noordewier played Cornwall’s own festivals The Great Estate in May and Rock Oyster in June, then joined fellow emerging singer-songwriter Dermot Henry for a short warm-up tour ahead of Boardmasters in August. He’s also shared stages with Sam Fender, Olivia Dean, Kingfisher and Amble along the way.

Most recently, he played a show in support of environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage, followed by a local beach clean, a pairing that fits an artist whose songs, according to his own bio, tell “wide-landscaped stories” ranging from life’s weather-hardened edges to gentler dreams of escape.

What’s next

Noordewier is now building towards a debut album, expected in 2027, drawing together the songbook he’s been developing across singles and EPs. The Cornish Bank date in Falmouth sits within a wider UK tour, and comes as his streaming numbers keep climbing. Joy & Despair alone has passed 2 million streams and 55 million views, with 22,000 fan-made creations built around it online.
