Cornwall weather: Friday 18 September, sunshine then a rainy night
If you are heading out around Truro or anywhere else in Cornwall this morning, make the most of the bright spells while they last. Friday opens with sunshine, but the sky has other ideas by bedtime, and the weekend keeps you guessing before something steadier settles in next week. Here is how the Cornwall weather plays out from today through midweek.

Today (Friday 18 September)
Sunny intervals lead the way, with a high of 19°C and an overnight low of 16°C. It will feel a little cooler than the thermometer says, closer to 16°C through the warmest part of the day and around 13°C once the breeze picks up. Winds gust to 28mph, so expect a blustery edge, especially along the coast. Rain holds off for most of the day, then the chance climbs to about 30% by 11pm.
Tonight
The cloud thickens after dark and turns overcast, with the low staying up at 16°C. Rain chances edge into the 20 to 30% range, so a damp finish to Friday is on the cards. Keep a coat within reach if you are out late.
Saturday 19 September
Overcast skies take over, with a high of 20°C and a low of 16°C, feeling around 18°C. There is a 30% chance of rain by the middle of the afternoon, around 2pm, and gusts again reaching 28mph. Not a washout, but grey and breezy.

Sunday 20 September
Mist is the word first thing on Sunday, and that is when the rain risk is highest at about 30% around 6am. Once it lifts, the temperature climbs to a pleasant 21°C, the warmest reading of the whole run, and it will feel every bit of it. Winds ease to gusts of 19mph, making for a calmer, softer day than Saturday.
The week ahead
Next week settles into a run of sunny intervals. Monday reaches 20°C with barely a whisper of rain (less than 5%) and light winds gusting only 11mph. Tuesday is the pick of the bunch at 21°C, dry and calm again. Wednesday cools a touch to 19°C with a 10% chance of an early shower around 7am, and Thursday holds at 19°C before the rain risk creeps back up to 30% late in the evening.
So Cornwall trades a wet Friday night for a bright, warm middle of next week, before the clouds start gathering again come Thursday evening.
