Cornwall weather: Monday 17 August, a wet start before 22°C
If you are heading out early in Cornwall today, keep a coat within reach. Monday is billed as sunny intervals climbing to 22°C, yet the first few hours carry a 70% chance of light rain, so the brighter spell has to wait for a soggy start to clear. Here is how the week’s weather looks from Truro out across the county.

Today
Met Office figures for Truro put Monday at a high of 22°C and a low of 17°C, with it feeling a shade cooler at around 21°C. Light rain is pencilled in for about 6am, and the chance of precipitation sits at 70%, so the “sunny intervals” label is really about what arrives once the early wet clears. Winds stay modest with gusts up to 20mph, and the UV index is high at 6, so the sun still has some strength when it does break through.
Tonight
The evening settles down. Skies turn partly cloudy, the chance of rain drops below 5%, and the temperature holds up at a mild 18°C overnight. A warm, mostly dry night after a mixed day.
Tuesday
Tuesday matches Monday for warmth at 22°C, though the sky is greyer. The forecast reads overcast, with a 50% chance of rain around 6am and a low of 15°C. Gusts edge up a touch to 21mph. Plenty of warmth in the air, but you may not see much of the sun.

Wednesday
Wednesday brings the sunny intervals back, with a high of 21°C and a low of 14°C. There is a 50% chance of light showers first thing, and this is the breeziest day of the run, with gusts reaching 28mph. Worth knowing if you have anything loose in the garden or a beach trip planned.
Thursday
The showers take over on Thursday. The day is marked as light showers, the high slips to 20°C and the low to 12°C, with a 70% chance of rain and gusts around 25mph. This is where the week turns cooler and wetter.
Friday
Friday keeps the same feel. Light showers again, a high of 20°C, a low of 13°C, a 50% chance of rain near 6am and gusts up to 24mph. Steady rather than dramatic, but the brolly earns its place.

The weekend and outlook
The weekend leans brighter. Saturday returns to sunny intervals at 20°C, with the rain risk easing to 30% and gusts of 23mph. Sunday looks the pick of the two, marked simply as sunny, a high of 20°C, a low of 12°C and just a 10% chance of rain, with the wind falling away to 18mph.
So the week opens warm and damp, dips into cooler showers by Thursday and Friday, then swings back to something like proper summer for the weekend. Whether Sunday’s clearer skies carry on into next week is the part the forecast will not commit to yet.
