Cornwall weather: Monday 7 September, sunny spells before the rain
If you have outdoor plans today, get them done early. Cornwall opens the week on a bright note, with sunny intervals over Truro and a top of 20°C, but the fine spell has a short shelf life. Rain is already lined up to move in after dark, and Tuesday looks like the wettest day of the week. Here is how the week’s weather shapes up across the county.

Today
Monday brings sunny intervals across Cornwall, with the mercury reaching 20°C and dipping to around 14°C. It will feel a touch cooler than the thermometer suggests, closer to 18°C once you factor in the breeze. There is a 40% chance of a shower first thing, around 6am, so an early walk might catch a spot of drizzle before the brighter spells take over. Winds stay light at about 9mph, though gusts could touch 25mph.
Tonight
The dry weather does not hang around. Light rain develops overnight as cloud thickens in from the west. Temperatures hold up at around 14°C, mild for early September, with winds easing back to roughly 8mph.
Tuesday
This is the soggy one. Despite the forecast still promising sunny intervals between the bands of rain, there is an 80% chance of heavy rain around 6am, so the start of the day could be a washout. Highs reach 19°C and lows sit near 13°C, and it turns blustery with gusts up to 30mph.

Wednesday
Things calm down a little. Sunny intervals return with a 40% chance of rain early on, highs of 19°C and an overnight low near 12°C, the coolest night of the run. Gusts ease back towards 26mph.
Thursday
Grey skies take charge. Thursday is overcast with a 50% chance of light rain around 6am. It stays mild at 18°C by day and a notably warm 15°C overnight, with gusts reaching 28mph.
Friday
The brightest end to the working week. Sunny intervals come back, the rain risk drops to 30%, and temperatures climb to 20°C with lows of 13°C. The wind falls away too, with gusts down around 18mph.

The weekend
Cloud has the upper hand for the weekend. Saturday is overcast with a high of 19°C, a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon and gusts near 23mph. Overnight lows stay muggy at 16°C. Sunday keeps to the same script, overcast again with a 20°C high, a 15°C low and a small 30% rain chance overnight.
So the shape of the week lands in the first few hours: catch Monday’s sunshine while it holds, because after Tuesday’s downpour the sky spends the rest of the week trading sun for cloud and never quite settling either way.
