Cornwall weather: Thursday 15 October, unseasonably mild before rain
Make the most of Thursday morning, because the day does not hold its shape for long. Cornwall starts out unseasonably mild and bright, with a blustery southwesterly wind, before cloud pushes in from the northwest and rain follows behind it. The Met Office regional forecast for South West England, which covers Cornwall, then swings the week towards something cooler and brighter that lasts into the weekend.

Today
Sunny spells and variable cloud get the day going. That cloud builds in from the northwest through the afternoon, with rain to follow later on. It stays unseasonably mild for the middle of October, helped along by a blustery southwesterly wind, with the temperature reaching a high of 19°C. A bright start, then, that clouds over as the day goes on.
Tonight
The rain settles in. It continues through the evening and overnight, heavy at times, before clearing towards the southeast into the early hours. Behind it the air turns noticeably cooler, with the wind easing back to something lighter. The overnight low drops to 8°C, a real change from the mild feel of the daytime.
Friday
Friday starts chilly after the clear-out. The day turns drier and brighter with plenty of sunny spells, though there is a risk of showers running through it. It feels noticeably cooler in a northwesterly breeze, with the high held to 16°C. A fresher day, and one to keep a jacket handy for.

The weekend and into Monday
The settled, brighter theme holds through the weekend, mostly dry with sunny spells by day. The trade-off comes after dark, with chilly nights bringing a risk of frost and patchy fog, the first proper hint that autumn is digging in. A few showers are possible as Monday comes around, so the dry run may not last much past the weekend.
