Flory brings a taste of Alicante to Bodmin
Ask Flory Veerman what she misses most about home and she won’t point to a landmark. She’ll talk about a table crowded with plates, a glass of red wine going round, and the way a meal in Spain never seems to end at dessert. This month she’s bringing a little of that spirit to Bodmin.

Three nights, one Spanish menu
Multi-award-winning Flory Restaurant in Bodmin is inviting diners to enjoy the flavours of Spain at three special Spanish Nights on Thursday 17, Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September. Created by chef and restaurant owner Flory Veerman, the event celebrates the vibrant flavours, traditions and relaxed dining culture of her native Spain through a specially curated menu.
Wherever possible, the dishes will lean on fresh Cornish produce, pairing the quality ingredients Cornwall is known for with the distinctive flavours and influences of Spanish cooking. Guests can look forward to dishes capturing the warmth and character of Spain, including guinea fowl supreme with red wine sauce and pork fillet with salsa, alongside other dishes created specially for the occasion.
A dish of home for the chef
The event has a particular personal connection for Flory, who comes from the province of Alicante in south-eastern Spain, on the Mediterranean coast. The region’s rich culinary heritage, its quality Mediterranean ingredients and its love of sharing food with family and friends have all fed into these three special evenings.
“Our Spanish Nights are a wonderful opportunity to share some of the flavours and spirit of the region where I come from,” said Flory. “Alicante has such a strong food culture, shaped by the Mediterranean and a love of bringing people together around the table, and I’m really looking forward to bringing some of that influence to Flory for these three special evenings.”
Spanish Nights is the latest in a series of themed culinary evenings staged by the restaurant, and past events have consistently proved popular with diners. Each one gives Flory the chance to showcase a different cuisine through a menu built specially for it, drawing on flavours and influences from further afield than the usual dinner menu.
Book ahead
The Spanish Nights take place at Flory Restaurant on Thursday 17, Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September 2026, and advance booking is recommended due to limited availability.
Flory Restaurant has built a growing reputation for its welcoming hospitality and high-quality food, with a string of accolades to date including a Taste of the West Gold Award and a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.
