How a Mawgan Porth beach cafe raised £800 for the Cove
A calendar on the counter. A few coins in a tin by the till. A day set aside to raise a bit more. And then, when it was all added up, the people behind the counter put their hands in their own pockets as well.
That is how Life’s A Beach Cafe in Mawgan Porth came to hand over £800 for patients and families supported by the Cove Macmillan Support Centre.

How the money was raised
The total came from several directions. The cafe sold its own calendar, held a fundraising day, and collected donations from customers in its counter tins.
The final push came from the cafe team, who personally matched the amount raised.
The money has gone to the Cove Fund, run by Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, and was presented on an oversized cheque outside the cafe.
Where it goes
The Cove Fund supports the Cove Macmillan Support Centre, helping make a difference for the patients and families who use it.
Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity called the total “incredible” and the gesture from the cafe team “amazingly generous”.
“We are so grateful for your support and commitment to helping make a difference for patients and families who benefit from the Cove Macmillan Support Centre,” the charity said.
