Police appeal after Falmouth e-scooter rider airlifted to hospital

A quiet stretch of Penmere Hill was anything but quiet late on Monday night, when a collision involving an e-scooter left a local man fighting for his recovery in hospital. Now police need to trace the rider of a motorcycle who they believe may hold the missing piece of what happened.

What happened on Penmere Hill

Officers were called to Penmere Hill in Falmouth at around 11.15pm on Monday 24 August 2026, following reports of a collision involving a Beryl electric scooter. The male rider of the e-scooter, a local man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was airlifted to hospital for treatment, where he currently remains.

As part of their ongoing enquiries, officers are now keen to identify and speak with the rider of a motorcycle who they believe may be able to assist.

The motorcyclist police want to trace

The two images released alongside the appeal show the rider from behind and from the front, taken from CCTV footage in the area. Anyone who recognises the person, the bike, or has information that may help identify either, is asked to come forward.
