Police community van to visit four spots near Launceston

A regular Wednesday morning is about to become the easiest time in weeks to catch a police officer for a chat, without needing an appointment or a crime to report.

Four stops across the Launceston area

The Launceston Neighbourhood Policing Team’s community engagement van will be out on Wednesday 2 September, calling at four locations across the morning and into the afternoon. Each stop lasts half an hour, apart from the last.

• North Hill Village Hall car park – 10am to 10.30am
• South Petherwin, next to the bus stop opposite the Village Pump – 11am to 11.30am
• Lawhitton Village Hall car park – 12pm to 12.30pm
• Launceston Town Square – 1pm to 2pm

Why the van is coming round

The van gives the Launceston Neighbourhood Policing Team a way of putting themselves in front of residents rather than waiting for people to come to them. Officers say the sessions are open to anyone, whether that means raising a specific concern, asking for crime prevention advice, or just stopping for a word.

No appointment is needed at any of the four stops. Officers have said a quick hello is just as welcome as a formal query.
