The St Day house with a ghost train in the front garden
There’s a ticket booth in a front garden in St Day. The skeleton clown behind the counter doesn’t look like he’s selling much, but he’s collecting for a good cause.
Steve Fionda and his family reckon they have the best Halloween display in the area. This year they’ve gone with a carnival and circus theme, and as Steve puts it, there are plenty of clowns for everyone.

A circus after dark
The whole front of the house has been taken over. A “Welcome to the Circus” banner hangs by the window. There’s a coconut shy, a “Feed the Clown” game and a Misfortune Reader’s booth. And next to them is a ghost train with a “Coming Soon” sign above it.
Skeletons sit locked in wooden stocks. A doll in a mask rides a tricycle across the driveway. Look up and you’ll spot a clown with a red balloon peering out of an upstairs window.
Once it gets dark, the smoke, bubbles and soundtrack come on.
Collecting for charity
This is the third year in a row the display has raised money for charity. This year the collection is split between the St Day Christmas Lights and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
There are secure collection tins on site for anyone who wants to give.
When and where to see it
The display is at 4 Forth An Eglos, St Day, TR16 5NJ, and it runs until Wednesday 4 November.
You can see it at any time of day, but it’s best viewed between 6pm and 10pm, when the after-dark effects are running.
Steve has a simple invitation for anyone passing: “Come and say hello.”
