Tractor Driver Airlifted with Life-Threatening Injuries After Collision on The Lizard

Police Appeal for Witnesses After Serious Crash Near Coverack

Police are investigating a serious collision near Coverack that left an 88-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called at around 4.25pm on Wednesday 2nd April following reports of a crash involving a silver Kawasaki motorbike and a tractor on an unclassified road at Trevothen, between Coverack and Penhallick on The Lizard.

The tractor driver, a local man, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in a critical condition. His next of kin have been informed.

A second man involved in the crash was taken to Treliske Hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.

Road Closed for Six Hours

Officers from the Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team attended the scene and carried out a full investigation. The road remained closed for approximately six hours to allow for a detailed examination.

Man Arrested and Released on Bail

A man in his 60s from Porthleven has been arrested on suspicion of:

• Causing serious injury by careless driving

• Using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance

• Driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit

He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Witnesses and Dashcam Footage Sought

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation.
