What’s planned for the garden at St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle
Patients at St Julia’s Hospice will have fresh herbs growing a few steps from the kitchen. And the hospice garden is getting a pathway, sensory plants and a splash of colour too.
Hayle Town Council has awarded St Julia’s Hospice a small grant of £590 to help pay for the work.

A £590 grant from the town council
The money was agreed at the most recent meeting of the council’s Resource Committee, which looks at grant applications from around Hayle.
It is a modest sum. But the hospice has a clear plan for how it will be spent.
What the grant will pay for
The grant will go towards three changes to the hospice grounds:
- A new herb garden, for patients and kitchen staff to enjoy using
- An extension to the garden, including a new pathway and sensory plants
- Repurposing the old herb garden into an area filled with colourful shrubs and bushes
The council said it hopes the grant brings improvements and enjoyment to staff and patients at the hospice, adding that it looks forward to seeing the finished project in due course.
How to apply for a Hayle Town Council grant
Grant applications are considered four times a year. Application forms and full details are available on the town council’s website.
Anyone with questions can call the council on 01736 755 005 or email [email protected].
