Appeal after teenage biker seriously hurt near Launceston

A stretch of the B3254 was closed for the best part of a day after a crash that has left a teenage motorcyclist fighting for his life in hospital. Police want to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage from the road.

What we know

Officers were called at around 11.45am on Tuesday 4 August to reports of a collision on the B3254 at South Petherwin, near Launceston. It involved a red Honda motorcycle and a red Volkswagen Polo.

The rider, a 16-year-old boy from the local area, suffered serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition, and his next of kin have been told. The driver of the Volkswagen was not hurt and stayed at the scene.

Road reopened after nine hours

The road was closed while the Roads Policing Team worked at the scene, and reopened at around 8.50pm, close to nine hours after the first call. Officers have thanked people for their patience during the closure.
