Egloskerry Primary Pupils Elect New School Council
Pupils at Egloskerry Primary School, part of Athena Learning Trust, have cast their votes this term to elect a brand-new school council. The children had the chance to vote for their peers, and the pupil-led group will now represent classmates, share ideas and help shape the future of the school.
The new council has already held its first meeting, focusing on fundraising plans for Children in Need Day, with exciting ideas already underway.
Democracy in Action
The election process has been designed to build on pupils’ learning in personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) lessons, giving them first-hand experience of the British value of democracy and the importance of having their voices heard.
Lynsey Slater, Principal at Egloskerry Primary School, said:
“Our new pupil led school council is a fantastic opportunity for children to have their voices heard and make a real difference in our school community. The election process not only teaches them about democracy, but also inspires creativity, responsibility, and teamwork. We are excited to see their ideas in action, from fundraising for Children in Need to initiatives that will make this year the best yet for everyone at Egloskerry.”

Open Days Coming Up
For families with children starting primary school in September 2026, Egloskerry is holding stay and play sessions on 7th October and 9th December at 1.15pm. These sessions give little ones the chance to explore, play and make new friends while parents can meet the team.
To book a spot, families are asked to email secretary@egloskerryprimary.uk.
The school has also confirmed that every day is treated as an open day, with parents able to arrange visits at other times if they cannot attend the scheduled dates.
