Launceston appeal after woman followed from Tesco by man in car

A walk from the supermarket in Launceston took an unsettling turn for one woman last week, when she realised the car behind her had been there a while.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the woman was followed and then stopped by a man in a car while she was walking through the town alone.

What happened on Tavistock Road

She first became aware of a vehicle following her after she left Tesco Superstore. The car then passed her and stopped in Tavistock Road at around 7.20pm last Wednesday (21 October).

The male driver started by asking her for directions. Then the questions turned inappropriate and offensive.

The woman fled and called the police straight away.

The car police want to trace

The vehicle is described as either a black or dark blue Mitsubishi 4X4, with silver bumpers on the front and the rear.

What police say the driver looked like

Police describe the man as Mediterranean looking, with dark hair and a tan but a British accent. He is believed to have been in his late 40s, with possible acne scarring on his cheeks, and may have been wearing a dark blue t-shirt.
