Launceston College Celebrates Students’ Reading Success

Cream teas, live music and a room full of proud families. That was the scene at Launceston College recently, and it had nothing to do with exam results.

Students, families and staff at Launceston College, part of Athena Learning Trust, came together for an evening marking students’ reading achievements.

Recognising the progress

The event recognised the progress made by students taking part in the college’s Lexia and Corrective Reading programmes, with awards presented to pupils from each group.

Guests enjoyed musical performances, cream teas and student readings, with families joining staff to celebrate students’ efforts and progress throughout the year.

The celebration was part of the college’s wider work on developing literacy and encouraging a love of reading among students of all ages and abilities. Launceston College places a strong emphasis on reading as a foundation for learning, with a range of programmes and interventions designed to support literacy development and help students achieve their full potential.
