Launceston College student singled out at cadet celebration

Cadets from right across Devon and Cornwall gathered for one celebration, and a Launceston College student came away with one of the day’s top honours.

Recognised at a regional event

Launceston College, part of Athena Learning Trust, is celebrating the success of student Lilia, who was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the Cadet programme at a recent Devon and Cornwall Cadet Celebration.

Lilia, a student within the college’s Area Resource Base (ARB), was presented with the ‘Cadet of the Day Award’ during the event, which brought together young people from cadet units across the two counties.

The celebration welcomed cadets from units in Camborne, St Austell, Launceston, Plympton, Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Torbay, Exeter, Mid Devon and Barnstaple. It also recognised the dedication of more than 30 volunteer cadet leaders who give their time to support young people and deliver social action projects across Devon and Cornwall.

The award recognises cadets who show commitment, enthusiasm and positive engagement within the programme, and Lilia’s achievement reflects her hard work and dedication.

A positive example

Staff at Launceston College were delighted to hear of Lilia’s success and praised the positive example she sets for others. The college recognises the role that organisations such as the Cadet programme play in helping young people develop confidence, teamwork, leadership skills and a sense of community.
