Launceston drivers handed Section 59 warnings after reports

If you have noticed cars racing, revving or driving badly around Launceston town centre, you are not imagining it. Police say they have had a run of complaints from the public, and some of the drivers behind the wheel have now been handed formal warnings.

What the police have said

Launceston Police say they have received numerous reports of anti-social driving in and around the town centre. Officers were given evidential footage and vehicle details along with those reports, and have now issued a number of Section 59 warnings as a result.

The force thanked the people who took the time to report what they saw. Officers said information from local communities plays a vital role in helping them identify offenders and take action, and that the aim is to keep the roads safe and “ensure Launceston remains a pleasant place for everyone.”

Officers said footage and vehicle details make a real difference, as the recent round of warnings shows. The more detail that comes in, the easier offenders are to identify.
