Poundstretcher to Open in Former Launceston Poundland on Friday
The shutters on Launceston’s old Poundland have been down for a while, but they are about to go back up under a new name.
Discount retailer Poundstretcher is moving into the former Poundland unit on the Launceston Retail Park, with the doors due to open at 9am on Friday, June 12th. The first 100 shoppers through the door will get a free goody bag, so anyone hoping to bag one will want to be there early.

Up to 15 jobs on offer
The opening is set to create up to 15 new jobs for the local community. It forms part of Poundstretcher’s wider UK expansion plans, with the chain growing its store network across the country.
The new store covers more than 5,000 sq ft and will stock branded and non-branded bargains across clothing, DIY, gardening, health and beauty, home decor, snacks, storage, pet, sweets and drinks.
What the boss says
Andy Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer of Poundstretcher, said: “Household budgets remain under pressure, so we are committed to expanding our store network and making it easier for even more people to access great products at great prices. We’re thrilled to be opening in Launceston and can’t wait to welcome shoppers through the doors on June 12th.”
The store is on the Launceston Retail Park, Hurdon Road, and opens its doors at 9am on Friday.
