Liskeard Badger Sett Named Cornwall Sett of the Year

Something rather lovely has been happening in Liskeard, and it has just earned the town a county-wide nod.

The Liskeard Badger Sett, part of St John Ambulance, has been named Cornwall County Badger Sett of the Year.

The award was handed out at the annual Cathedral Award Service, which celebrates the work of Badger Setts across Cornwall. Organisers said the recognition reflects the commitment, teamwork, and community spirit shown by the young members of the Liskeard group.

A Leader Who Makes The Difference

Much of the credit has gone to Sett Leader Annabelle, who has been described as enthusiastic, supportive, and encouraging. Under her watch, the group has built a setting where Badgers can learn, grow, and pick up life skills along the way.

A spokesperson for the unit said: “This award is a testament to the hard work of our Badgers and the dedication of their leader. Annabelle’s passion and encouragement inspire every member to do their best, and we are delighted to see the sett recognised at county level.”

What The Badgers Actually Do

The county recognition points to the sett’s ongoing work promoting first aid awareness, teamwork, and confidence among young people, alongside its contribution to life in Liskeard.

The St John Ambulance Badgers programme is open to young people aged 5 to 10, giving them the chance to learn lifesaving skills in what the charity describes as a fun, friendly, and safe environment.
