The Liskeard Committee for Cancer Research UK is preparing to open its 57th Annual Exhibition of Arts and Crafts next month, with organisers saying this year’s event is shaping up to be a bumper show.

The exhibition will run from Wednesday 4 March to Sunday 8 March at the Public Hall in Liskeard. It follows a strong year in 2025, when an impressive 670 pieces were exhibited.

Hundreds of pieces on display

Last year’s exhibition featured a wide mix of paintings, prints, photographs, fabric and mixed media pictures, all displayed in a large art exhibition in the main hall.

Alongside the main exhibition, visitors can browse and buy work from local crafters and makers. Items on offer include jewellery, glass work, pottery, woodwork, greetings cards, textiles and crochet.

Committee Chairman John Reed said: “Our Annual Exhibition of Arts and Crafts allows local exhibitors to showcase their talents producing a wonderful array of items for sale. We would love for as many people as possible to join us and support this fundraising event for Cancer Research.”

Exhibitors and makers donate 30 per cent of their sales to Cancer Research UK, with some choosing to give a higher percentage. In some cases, the full sale price is donated to the charity.

Aiming to top £11,500

Last year’s event raised more than £11,500. Organisers say they hope to exceed that total this time around.

Refreshments will be served each day at a pop-up café, and the raffle is known for its large prize table. Both contribute to boosting funds for the charity.

This year’s show will be opened by Daphne Skinnard of BBC Radio Cornwall, alongside Cornwall’s CRUK Patron.

How to attend

The exhibition will be formally opened on the evening of Tuesday 3 March with a wine and cheese reception. Admission for the opening evening is £6.

From Wednesday onwards, the exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 7.30pm. Admission is £2 per person, with children admitted for £1.

More information is available via the local Facebook page or by emailing [email protected].
