Relay For Life Liskeard Returns This May To Raise Funds For Cancer Research UK

Published On: 14 April 2026Last Updated: 14 April 2026By

A volunteer-led fundraising event in Liskeard is looking to welcome more people from across Cornwall as it prepares for another year of raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Relay For Life Liskeard, which takes place over the late May bank holiday weekend, brings together teams who take turns walking around a track for up to 12 or 24 hours while raising funds throughout the year.

The organiser, who recently took over the event, is now hoping to open it up to more teams from across Cornwall. This year, a team from Camborne will be taking part, with organisers keen to see more communities get involved.

A Weekend Of Fundraising And Support

The event is about more than just fundraising. It also offers support to those affected by cancer in different ways.

Cancer survivors are invited to attend a free reception, giving them the chance to meet others who have been through similar experiences and celebrate milestones together.

One of the key moments of the weekend is the Candle Of Hope Ceremony, where candle bags filled with dedications are lit in the evening to honour loved ones who have faced cancer.

Free Family Festival With Activities For All Ages

Alongside the relay, the weekend also features a free, family-friendly festival with a wide range of activities.

Visitors can enjoy free activities including an art and craft tent, children’s play village, garden games and live music. There will also be free workshops and demonstrations such as Chloe the Clown, karate, yoga, watercolour classes and Clubbercise.

Fundraising activities taking place across the site include mini golf, a bouncy castle, carnival games, stalls and local food vendors.

Looking Ahead To A Milestone Year

Relay For Life events take place across the UK and worldwide, but this remains the only one held in Cornwall.

With the event approaching its 20th year next year, organisers are hoping to build participation this year to help mark the milestone and support more people affected by cancer.
