Ninety point seven. That’s the number a holiday business tucked into the valley near Looe has been waiting to hear, and it arrives just days before a big night in Truro.

Ohana Mua, the company behind The Vale at Peakswater, is now a Certified B Corporation. It came through with a verified B Impact Score of 90.7, comfortably clear of the qualifying threshold of 80.

And the timing is good. The Vale is also a finalist in two categories at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2026.

The Vale is in the running for New Tourism Business of the Year and Dog Friendly Business of the Year.

The results will be announced at Truro Cathedral next Thursday (12 November).

What becoming a B Corp means to the team

B Corp certification is a verified score, and businesses have to reach 80 to qualify. Ohana Mua cleared it by more than ten points.

“Becoming a B Corp is about holding ourselves to account for how we look after our guests, our team, our neighbours and this stretch of coast,” said Paul Massey, CEO of Ohana Mua.

“Cornwall gives us so much, and we want to give back more than we take.”

On its website the company describes its aim as creating energy positive destinations that give back to the planet.

Where The Vale is

The Vale sits on the South West Coast Path, a few miles from Looe, Polperro and Fowey, in a riverside setting with Deerpark Forest a short drive away.

There are nine lodges and cottages, sleeping up to 50 guests between them. Each property has its own enclosed decking or garden terrace with either a hot tub or a copper bath, and every one has a dedicated EV charging point.

Bringing the dog

Dogs are welcome, which is part of the reason The Vale made the Dog Friendly Business of the Year shortlist.
