Lower Anderton Road in Millbrook lined up for autumn closure

Millbrook Parish Council has shared a notice from Cornwall Council this week, and anyone who drives, cycles or walks along Lower Anderton Road will want to see it before the closure begins.

What Cornwall Council wants to close

Cornwall Council is proposing to close Lower Anderton Road in Millbrook, between the junctions with Higher Anderton Road and the B3247, to carry out capital drainage works. Under the notice, the closure would run from Monday 28 September 2026 to Friday 16 October 2026, in force 24 hours a day, weekends included.

The scheme is being delivered on behalf of the council by Cormac Solutions Ltd, which manages highways works across Cornwall under its term contract with the authority.

Only an intention, for now

The notice is issued under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and its own wording is careful to point out where things currently stand: this is only an Intention Notice, and an Order has not yet been issued. Cornwall Council is inviting feedback within fourteen days of the notice, which Millbrook Parish Council published on Thursday 3 September, putting the window at roughly a fortnight from then.

A more detailed version of the same proposal, headed The County of Cornwall (Lower Anderton Road, Millbrook) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026, confirms the closure is necessary for capital drainage works and would also run 24 hours a day, weekends included. It is signed off by Vicky Fraser, Cornwall Council’s Service Director for Environment and Connectivity.

Getting around while it’s shut

An alternative route would be signed on site for the duration of the works, and Cornwall Council has published an interactive map of the closure and diversion route for anyone planning ahead. Pedestrian access would be maintained to properties along the closed stretch throughout.

Whether the closure goes ahead exactly as proposed, gets adjusted, or is dropped altogether depends on what comes back from residents and businesses over the next couple of weeks. For now, it remains a notice of intent rather than a done deal.
