The Trouble Notes to Perform New Fantasy-Folk Work at Minack Theatre

Published On: 23 March 2026Last Updated: 23 March 2026By

A new fantasy-folk performance shaped by Cornwall’s coastline is set to take to one of the county’s most iconic stages this spring.

On Tuesday 6th May 2026, The Trouble Notes will perform at the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno, presenting a special set that blends their established cinematic sound with material from their developing narrative world, Mnemerith: Echoes of Eldbriaris.

The 7pm show will feature songs including “Storm Searching”, “No Land in Sight.” and “So we Dance”, all connected to a wider prologue that has been taking shape along the South West coast.

A Sound Shaped by Cornwall

The trio’s connection to Cornwall dates back to 2019, when they first travelled through the South West. A return in June 2022 for a performance at The Acorn in Penzance marked a turning point, with the county becoming a regular destination for the band.

Since then, The Trouble Notes have appeared at venues and events across Cornwall, including Penzance, the St Ives September Festival and the Little Orchard Festival. Over time, the area has become more than just a tour stop, serving as a creative base where new material has been tested and developed.

The band has drawn on the county’s coastline and natural environment while shaping arrangements, using the setting as a backdrop for their evolving work.

International Act With a Story-Led Approach

The Trouble Notes are led by American violinist and composer Bennet Cerven, alongside German guitarist Florian Eisenschmidt and UK drummer and percussionist George Bingham.

Since forming in 2013, the trio has built an international reputation for immersive, story-led performances. Their music combines folk influences, classical elements, global rhythms and rock energy. They have performed in more than 35 countries and have collaborated with artists including Jethro Tull and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

A New Creative Chapter at the Minack

The upcoming Minack performance offers Cornwall audiences a chance to experience the band during what is described as a new creative chapter.

At the centre of this work is a narrative shaped by themes of resilience, hope and renewal, set against a mythic and storm-driven backdrop. These themes are expected to align closely with the Minack’s cliff-top setting above Porthcurno Bay.

Beyond their performances, the group also runs the More Violins, Less Violence campaign, supporting children affected by war and poverty through music and related activities.

BBC Radio has previously described the trio as “like nothing I’ve ever seen before”, highlighting the distinctive nature of their live shows.
