Mousehole Bird Hospital Appeals for Soft Toy Gulls

Wildlife rescues usually ask for the obvious things. Food, blankets, donations, volunteers. One Cornish hospital has a slightly more unusual request, and it involves seagulls of the soft and squishy variety.

Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital has put out an appeal for donated soft toy gulls to keep its youngest patients company.

The hospital takes in gull chicks that arrive poorly or injured. While they recover, some of them need to be kept in isolation, which can be a lonely experience for a small bird. To help with that, staff want to give the chicks a soft toy gull to snuggle up to during their stay.

What they are looking for

Any size of toy is welcome, as long as it fits inside an incubator or a hospital cage. The hospital has put together an Amazon wishlist with some suggestions, though it points out that similar toys can often be found cheaper elsewhere.
