Mullion Extravaganza returns to St Mellan’s Park this July

Two days, three silent disco sessions, a ceilidh and a village fete, all in aid of the local Scouts.

The Mullion Extravaganza is back for its fifth year, with a weekend of music, dancing and family fun planned for Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July 2026 at St Mellan’s Park in Mullion. The event has become a fixture of the village calendar and is expected to draw people from across the Lizard Peninsula and further afield.

Run by local volunteers with backing from Mullion Parish Council, the Extravaganza mixes traditional fete activities with live entertainment. Money raised goes back into local charities, community groups and village projects. This year the Lizard and Mullion Scouts are the chosen beneficiary.

Saturday afternoon: silent disco in the marquee

The weekend opens with a Silent Disco in the marquee at St Mellan’s Park, opposite Atlantic Forge, running from 12.45pm to 4.30pm. It is open to anyone aged five and up, with tickets at £5 per headset for nearly four hours of entertainment.

The afternoon takes in three Silent Disco sessions plus arts and crafts, table games and puzzles, soft archery and water games. Children under 14 need to be with a responsible adult. A licensed bar runs through the afternoon, with food from Victorian Mobile Catering and Crepe Therapy.

Saturday evening: a Cornish-style ceilidh

Come the evening, there is a traditional Cornish-style Ceilidh. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, with live music from The Roseville’s and a caller walking dancers through every step.

Tickets are on the door at £5 for adults and £2 for accompanied under-16s. The licensed bar will be open and Victorian Mobile Catering and Crepe Therapy will be serving hot food and refreshments.

Sunday: the village fete

Sunday 26 July brings the Mullion Extravaganza Village Fete. The church bells ring it open at 11.50am and the fete itself starts at noon.

There will be stalls, inflatables, children’s rides, a bouncy castle, ice cream, traditional fete games, face painting, mini pitch and putt, tombolas, children’s races and field games. The Coastguard and Fire Service are expected to attend, along with a range of local attractions and community organisations.

Live music and acts run through the afternoon, with Breage Brass Band, local favourites Everest, singer Stacey Lee and the Mullion Hand Bell Ringers. The day finishes with a grand raffle and auction hosted by local personality Dicky Mint.

Chairman of the Mullion Extravaganza Committee and lifelong Mullion resident Robin Olliff said:

“The support we have received from the Mullion community over the past four years has been incredible. The Extravaganza has grown into a wonderful community event that brings residents and visitors together, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone for another fantastic weekend.

“What makes the event particularly special is that it helps support local organisations and community projects. Every year, funds raised through the Extravaganza are reinvested back into the community, and we are delighted that the Mullion and Lizard Scouts will be among this year’s beneficiaries.”

Parking and dogs

Parking is at Atlantic Forge, where disabled and short-stay parking costs £3, and at Tremenhee for long-stay parking by donation.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short lead, and owners are asked to clean up after them.
