Regional Programming Coming This Month
Regional programming and local content will be added to Nation Radio Somerset from 9th March. The station will then extend its coverage into Devon and Cornwall on DAB from 30th March 2026.
Nation has appointed Cornwall-based Scott Temple as Regional Programme Controller for the Westcountry, where he will lead programming for the South West region.
Scott Temple said: “After nearly three decades on air in Cornwall and the South West, I’m excited to be leading the South West and Westcountry team at Nation Broadcasting. I’ll be making sure that Nation continues its audience growth and that we offer listeners and advertisers the best radio service to enjoy and promote their businesses.”
Record Listening Figures
Nation Broadcasting recently recorded its highest ever listening figures, with over a million weekly listeners and 7.15 million weekly listening hours. The company says this cements its position as the UK’s largest independent radio operator.
Neil Greenslade, Nation’s Group Programme Director, said: “The addition of local content and programming and the extension of Nation Radio’s coverage in the Westcountry is a huge development for our business. We see a significant audience opportunity for audience growth across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.”
Where You Can Listen
Nation operates local, regional and national services across the UK, alongside the fast-growing Nation Player app. The app is home to Nation 80s, Nation 90s, Nation 70s and Nation Classic Hits. It also offers stations and podcasts from independent providers, as well as a selection of podcasts from the BBC.
Nation Radio Somerset is available now on DAB digital radio, the Nation Player mobile app and via smart speakers by asking them to “Play Nation Radio Somerset”.
From the end of March, listeners in Devon and Cornwall will also be able to tune in on DAB as Nation expands further into the region.
