Biofluorescent Night Walk Returns to Trebah Gardens This March
What Glows in the Dark? This Night Walk Reveals Nature’s Secrets
A popular after dark experience is returning this spring with the Biofluorescent Night Walk, offering visitors the chance to explore the hidden world of glowing organisms.
Taking place on 20th and 21st March 2026, the guided walks will run across four evening sessions at Trebah Garden, giving participants the chance to see biofluorescence in action.
What is biofluorescence?
Biofluorescence is a natural phenomenon where certain organisms absorb light and re emit it as different colours. During the walk, participants will use UV torches to reveal fungi, insects and plants glowing in shades of green, blue, red, purple and orange within their natural surroundings.
All UV torches and safety glasses are provided, with the glasses required to be worn throughout the walk.
What to expect on the walk
The experience is suitable for anyone aged 8 and over, with no prior knowledge needed. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
The walk covers a maximum distance of two miles at a slow pace. Visitors are advised to wear warm clothing and sturdy footwear, as the terrain is uneven. Walking boots are ideal, though trainers are considered adequate.
Hot drinks including tea, filter coffee and hot chocolate will be available to purchase on the night but are not included in the ticket price.
