New Murals Are Appearing on Doors in Newquay

Bright new artwork is starting to appear on doors around Newquay as part of a town-wide creative effort led by Newquay BID.

Two of the first murals can already be spotted, one on East Street and another on Bank Street. The early designs are currently being created by local artists Diane Griffiths and Siobhan Taylor-Levene.

More doors across the town are expected to be transformed over the coming weeks, with artists continuing their work even while battling the Cornish weather.

Artists Bringing Colour to the Streets

Newquay BID shared the update this week, saying they are “really excited to see the first of our Door Murals popping up around town”.

As more artwork appears, residents and visitors will start to notice colourful designs spreading across different streets.

Some of the artists working on the murals may also be contending with changing weather conditions as they complete the pieces.

Public Vote Planned Once Murals Are Complete

Once all of the door murals have been finished, the public will be invited to choose their favourite.

A public vote will be opened so people can help decide which artist’s design is crowned the winner.

In the meantime, Newquay BID is encouraging people to keep an eye out for the murals while out and about in town. Anyone who spots one is invited to take a photo, share it online and tag Newquay BID so the images can be shared.

Artists and Businesses Invited to Take Part

Newquay BID is also inviting more people to get involved.

Artists and business owners who have a door that could become a canvas are encouraged to get in touch by emailing [email protected].

The aim is to fill Newquay with colourful artwork that adds creativity and energy to the streets for both the community and the visitors who come to enjoy the town.
