Driver Issued £100 Fine for Speeding Near Nansledan School

Driver Caught Speeding at 9am Outside Nansledan School

Concerns over speeding near a primary school in Nansledan have led to action from Devon & Cornwall Police’s Road Safety Team.

The team re-visited Nansledan school on the morning of Thursday 26th February after receiving what they described as a large volume of complaints about continued speeding in the area.

Driver travelling well above the limit

During the visit, officers recorded one driver travelling at nearly one and a half times the speed limit past the primary school at 9am.

According to the Road Safety Team, the driver had already driven past a police motorcyclist who was wearing a high visibility uniform before being detected speeding.

Police confirmed the speed was above the threshold for an educational diversion course. As a result, the driver will receive a fixed penalty of £100 and three penalty points.

More checks planned in Nansledan

Devon & Cornwall Police said they will continue to visit the location regularly.

They also confirmed that, following numerous requests, speed checks will soon be carried out within the 20mph limit in Nansledan.

The Road Safety Team has urged drivers to keep their speeds down in residential areas and near schools.
