Fistral Beach Clean Hits 170 Milestone – Here Is What They Found
Barbed wire, BBQs and hundreds of plastic bits removed by volunteers
On Friday 31st May, Fistral Beach Clean marked their 170th clean-up, with 18 volunteers collecting litter from the dunes, beach and surrounding paths in Newquay.
Five Bags of Rubbish Removed
The group cleared five bags of rubbish along with the remains of a folding chair and a length of barbed wire. Most of the larger items—such as cans, bottles, food packaging and disposable BBQs – were found in the dunes at Fistral Beach.
On the beach itself, volunteers picked up plastic pieces, polystyrene fragments, plastic bottle tops and bits of nylon rope.
Hazards Flagged for Removal
Gill tagged the exposed barbed wire with hazard tape, and it will now be reported to Cormac for removal. Georgeta spent time carefully removing hundreds of tiny polystyrene pieces from the sand.
Thanks were given to Keep Britain Tidy and Boardmasters Beach Bar for supporting the group.
Fistral Beach Clean continues to lead regular efforts to keep one of Cornwall’s most popular beaches litter-free.
