Free Summer Finale set to fill Newquay’s Killacourt

A children’s disco, a dinosaur walkabout and free fairground rides all on the same patch of grass overlooking the bay. That’s the line-up as summer in Newquay gets its send-off on Saturday 5th September, when Newquay Town Council throws open the Killacourt for a free, all-day community celebration.

A full day of activities alongside the market

The Summer Finale runs from 10am to 4pm and sits alongside the BIG Newquay Market, so there’s a full programme to work through. Fairground rides are free throughout the day, and visitors can drop in on local organisations, charities and emergency services with stands at the event. Newquay Chess Club will be on hand for anyone fancying a game, and Radio Newquay is hosting the day’s activities from the stage.

Dinosaurs, theatre and a disco to close it out

The entertainment builds through the afternoon. Squashbox Theatre brings its Stones & Bones show to the stage at 11am, followed by the Dino Discovery Show and walkabout at 12.30pm. Things wind down with a children’s disco from 2pm until 4pm.

Raising money for a South West children’s hospice

The day also doubles as a fundraiser for the Mayor’s chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West. Visitors can support the cause through donations and a raffle stocked with prizes donated by local businesses and organisations.

Children’s Hospice South West has spent more than 30 years caring for babies, children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, alongside supporting their families. It’s the only children’s hospice charity in the South West, backing more than 500 families through its three hospices in Devon, North Somerset and Cornwall. Every one of those services is provided free to the families who need it, at a cost of more than £16 million a year to keep running.

We are proud to be raising money for Children’s Hospice South West and hope people will come along, enjoy everything the event has to offer and help make a difference to families across the South West.”
