Phase Two of Street Art Trail Announced
Newquay BID has launched Phase Two of its Newquay Street Art Walking Tour, introducing a new competition called “The Door Art Tour” with a £1,000 cash prize for the winning artist.
The existing large-scale murals across Newquay have developed over the past few years and have generated significant interest on social media. They are popular with both residents and visitors. While Newquay BID continues to seek funding for further major wall murals, the next stage of the town’s street art journey is now underway.
Introducing The Door Art Tour
The new phase will create a smaller-scale trail linking the town’s existing landmark murals.
Newquay BID is seeking a minimum of 20 town centre businesses willing to volunteer a door that an artist can transform into a unique piece of art. The finished works will connect different parts of the high street, encouraging people to explore more of the town centre while adding colour and creativity.
How It Works
The process has been set out clearly:
-
Businesses volunteer a suitable door and secure landlord or building owner permission.
-
Local artists apply to take part.
-
Artists are matched with participating businesses.
-
Artists and door owners agree the final concept collaboratively.
-
All murals must be completed and photographed by 31st March 2026.
All completed murals will be featured on the Love Newquay website and across social media. The public will then be invited to vote for their favourite design.

£1,000 Prize for the Winner
The artist behind the winning door mural will receive a £1,000 cash prize.
Participating businesses are also encouraged, where possible, to support their artist with small gestures such as refreshments or vouchers, helping to create a strong community feel around the project.
Creative Freedom Central to the Project
A key principle of The Door Art Tour is creative freedom.
Artwork inspired by Newquay’s coastline, surf culture, heritage and independent spirit is welcomed. However, artists will be given genuine artistic licence, with organisers keen to avoid over-prescribing themes or restricting ideas.
Participating businesses will be asked to collaborate positively and avoid unnecessary limitations so that the final pieces reflect the artist’s authentic style while remaining suitable for a public-facing town centre setting.
How to Apply
Artists who would like to take part should email [email protected].
Applications must include:
-
Name and contact details
-
One image of existing work
-
A short ten-word summary describing what they would want their doorway to be
Applications are open immediately.
Artist and door registrations close on 15th March 2026.
Murals must be completed and photographed by 31st March 2026.
Public voting opens on 1st April 2026.
The winner will be announced in mid-April 2026.

Building a More Vibrant High Street
Newquay BID says The Door Art Tour represents another step in strengthening the town’s creative identity.
By increasing the volume of public art across Newquay, both large and small, the project aims to:
-
Encourage greater footfall across the town centre
-
Support and showcase local artistic talent
-
Generate social media engagement
-
Add colour and character to the high street
-
Create a stronger sense of pride and place
Businesses, artists and members of the public are all invited to get involved as Newquay’s street art trail continues to evolve.
