Newquay lifeguard season ends, but Fistral is still being watched

All summer, the red and yellow flags and the lifeguards in their bright tops have been part of the scenery on Newquay‘s beaches. The main season has now come to an end. But the lifeguards haven’t packed up just yet.

Thanks to the team after a busy summer

RNLI Lifeguards Newquay has marked the end of another busy main season on the town’s beaches, and used the moment to say thank you.

The team gave a huge thank you to all of its lifeguards for their hard work, dedication and commitment throughout another busy summer.

“Although the main season is coming to an end, we’re still here keeping watch over Newquay’s beaches,” the team said.

Which Newquay beaches are still patrolled

From now until October half term, RNLI lifeguards will cover these beaches:

• Fistral: patrolled full time
• Crantock, Towan, Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth: patrolled at weekends

Fewer crowds, same unpredictable sea

As the days get shorter and the summer crowds begin to disappear, the lifeguards say the sea can still be unpredictable.

They’re asking anyone heading to the coast to take care, check the conditions and look out for the lifeguards before going in.

At Fistral, that watch stays full time until half term. Elsewhere, it’s weekends only.
