Newquay Rotary Club Announces Christmas Eve Event on Bank Street
Newquay is gearing up for a lively Christmas Eve as the Rotary Club of Newquay brings its annual celebration back to Bank Street. The club is inviting the town to join a day of festive entertainment beside its Christmas Tree, which is donated each year for the people of Newquay.
What’s Happening on the Day
The festivities start at 10.00am with a special Christmas performance from Titan the Robot. At 10.30am, children can meet ponies from Chy Lowen Alpacas, Tregaswith and Barnwell Equestrian, Cubert, who will be in pens next to the tree.
Music takes over at 12.30pm, when Newquay Band performs festive favourites.
Visitors can also expect interactive games, including Splat the Rat, and mulled wine served by the Clover Club.
All proceeds from the day will go to the Newquay Food Bank to support local families over Christmas.
Words from Newquay BID
Newquay BID Manager Mark Warren said:
“I’m so pleased that the Rotary Club has organised another fantastic event for the Newquay Food Bank this year. Christmas Eve is such an important time, and many people come into Newquay to enjoy the Rotary Club’s activities. I encourage everyone to come along as a community, join in the fun, and help spread some cheer to those who aren’t as fortunate as we are during this special time”
Rotary’s Work in the Community
The Rotary Club of Newquay has been part of the town for more than 75 years. Funds raised over the past year have supported Newquay Food Bank, Tretherras School, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Shelterbox and Newquay RNLI. Members also helped at the lifeboat day.
The club has supported over 2500 people through the Lendwithcare programme and contributed to the creation of more than 356 jobs.
They are also raising further funds for the Newquay Food Bank through Remembrance Stars for those who have lost a loved one. These stars are placed on the Rotary Christmas Tree. Anyone who wants more information about the club or is interested in joining can email secretary@newquayrotary.org.uk.
The Rotary Club of Newquay sends its best wishes for a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and invites families to join them on Christmas Eve for a day of festive fun.
