RNLI Newquay Lifeboats Launch to Assist Casualty Cut Off by Tide at Towan Beach
Volunteers from RNLI Newquay were called into action after an individual became cut off by the incoming tide at Towan Beach.
Lifeboats launched after afternoon call
At 13:06 on Wednesday 31st December, Newquay RNLI lifeboats were paged following reports of a casualty stranded at Towan Beach.
Both of the charity’s lifeboats were launched and tasked to the area to assess the situation and provide assistance.
Casualty brought ashore safely
After locating the casualty, the crews assisted them ashore. The individual was then left in the care of the Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team.
Both lifeboats were stood down shortly afterwards and returned to Newquay Lifeboat Station.
Safety reminder from RNLI volunteers
RNLI Newquay volunteers remain on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are reminding members of the public to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard if they see anyone in difficulty along the coast.
As the New Year begins, everyone at Newquay RNLI has wished the public a safe and happy year ahead.
